New Writing and ESL Classes by Richard M. Crum, former National Geographic Writer and Editor!

A NEW program is now open at Best of Books in Edmond, which features a variety of writing workshops and classes! We are delighted that Richard M. Crum will be conducting this BOB Writing Program!
Richard M. Crum is a former National Geographic Writer and Editor; a published writer of fiction and nonfiction; the owner of The Editorial Annex, a publishing house; an instructor of English composition at the University of Central Oklahoma; a certified teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL); and a featured lecturer of the BOB Writing Series.

Richard will be offering a variety of workshops, including:

Thursdays with Richard
Aspiring writers can bring their works-in-progress for edits and answers to any questions pertaining to the craft of writing and the business of getting published.
These one-on-one sessions are FREE for BOB Writing Series graduates and current participants! The sessions take place from 3-4 pm every Thursday. The sessions are also open to non-BOB Writing Series writers at $35/hour.

Essay Writing Workshop
For grades 5 through 12

A UCO instructor of English composition, Richard gives students the skills and confidence to write the 10 major academic essays and the academic research paper. This workshop prepares students to succeed on their classroom writing assignments, their college entrance essay exam, and their freshman year of English composition.
Students are assigned to each workshop according to age. Time of each workshop will be arranged between 3-5pm on weekdays. The fee for each workshop session is $30. Advance reservations and a minimum of 3 sessions are required. Contact Best of Books today!


Fiction Writing Workshop for Teens
Teens who hope to write and publish short stories, novels, or screenplays are invited to enroll. This workshop reveals the critical skills required to create a professional literary work. Teens will practice these skills, including how to structure a story, how to plot, how to create characters, how to write scene and sequel, how to handle fact and feeling, how to choose the right words, and more!
Teens who produce a professional piece will receive assistance in getting their work published.
The fee is $30 per session; a minimum of 8 sessions is recommended for best results. Number of sessions is unlimited based on a teen's needs and interest. Fiction Writing Workshop for Adults

Not a teenager, but hoping to write and publish short stories, novels, or screenplays? Then this workshop is for you! Here you will discover the critical skills required to create a professional literary work. Participants who produce a professional piece will receive assistance in getting their work published.
This workshop costs $30 per session; a minimum of 8 sessions is recommended for best results. Number of sessions is unlimited, based on your needs and interest. English as a Second Language (ESL) Workshop
A certified ESL teacher with 16 years experience, Richard helps international students and adults master the English language. Skills practiced include English grammar, essay writing (and for working adults, business writing), reading, listening and speaking (with emphasis on troublesome English sounds, such th-sound and s-sound; diagraphs, such as ph and ey; consonant blends, such as sw and tr; and dipthongs, such as ay, ow, oy).
This is a small group workshop, maximum of ten participants. Fee of the workshop is $30 per session. Time of each workshop will be arranged between 3-5pm on weekdays. Advance reservations and a minimum of 3 sessions are required. Contact Best of Books today!
