Description

The Beanstalk Murder - a middle grade fantasy novel by P. G. Bell - involves a young witch-in-training, her archenemy, a dead giant, and a huge murder mystery!

11-year-old Anwen lives with her grandma in the rural land of Old Stump, an area that hasn't seen giants since the Great Beanstalk War, after which the giants agreed to remain in the Sky Kingdom. So when a giant falls right into village square, it's quite a surprise. It's an even bigger surprise when they discover that the giant was dead BEFORE he hit the ground. In order to send a message to Sky Kingdom, Anwen, her grandmother, and Anwen's enemy, Cerys, will have to plant a magic bean and attach a note to the beanstalk that grows from it. Easy!

Except Anwen and Cerys both get stuck on the beanstalk and find themselves in the Sky Kingdom. When the beanstalk promptly rots and disappears, the girls have no way home. Before they can make their way back down to Old Stump, the feuding pair will have to work together through a web of intrigue and danger to figure out who murdered the prince of giants and sent the body tumbling down.
