"Speaking to the Unseen" is the third book in the Chantalene mystery series and can be read together or as a standalone.

Unearthing family secrets can be a dangerous enterprise.

Diagnosed with a rare and fatal genetic disease, Chantalene is in a race against time. The maximum life expectancy of those with this particular disorder-passed down in through the maternal line-is thirty-three. With her thirtieth birthday looming, she knows the clock is ticking louder than ever.

Her last hope rests with Gamma Rose, her great grandmother. But there’s a problem. A revered Romani seeress bearing the weight of uncounted secrets, Gamma Rose hasn’t been seen in decades. Whispers abound that she’s still among the living, but nobody knows exactly where she might be. Determined to unlock the mysteries shrouding her lineage and desperate for a chance at a full life, Chantalene embarks on a personal mission to find her and confront the shadows of her family’s past. She is driven by two burning questions: Can Gamma Rose help her defy the spectre of impending and premature death? And what happened to Chantalene’s missing grandmother, an enigmatic figure shrouded in whispers and mystery?

Facing loss, grief, deception, and betrayal, Chantalene makes a startling discovery-the existence of a hidden family she never knew existed. In a race against time and fate, she must confront the chilling truth that could alter her destiny forever.

Marcia grew up on a family farm and earned B.A. and M.A. degrees from University of Central Oklahoma. She taught thirteen years in public high schools, freelanced for a long list of magazines, and worked as magazine editor and public relations director for The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. For many years, Marcia edited and published ByLine, a national magazine for freelance writers.

Her first novels were mysteries featuring the daughter of a Gypsy mother and a redneck father. Both novels were nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award for suspense fiction, and Song of the Bones won the award. Marcia herself is neither a Gypsy nor a redneck, just a Democrat. "Speaking to the Unseen" is the third book in this award winning series.

Marcia also writes literary and women’s fiction. Her latest book, The Spiderling, arose from watching her granddaughters cope with the deployment of their father to Iraq and Afghanistan. Her work-in-progress, still untitled, deals with the long term effects of bullying on both the victim and tormenter.

Marcia belongs to Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, and has served on judging panels for the Edgars. She is a past-president and Honorary Life Member of the statewide Oklahoma Writers Federation Inc. She lives in central Oklahoma, where she feeds the birds and dodges tornadoes.
