Gene Allen is a long time Okie, graduate of OSU. Most of his writing career was producing documentaries at Channel Four (then WKY-TV. During his time there, they were three time winners of the Western Heritage Awards from Western Heritage Center, had one Emmy nomination, Best Documentary of the Year from Sigma Delta Chi Journalists and several others. He moved to Oklahoma State Extension Service at OSU and started Oklahoma Gardening and Sun Up television programs. After retirement, he decided to try my hand at writing for print. His first book was “ Voices On The Wind” a history of early Oklahoma radio and he recently finished a memoir “Four Eyes” and a long magazine article “”The Vision and the Dream” the first four years of television in Oklahoma. It will be published in the coming months in The Chronicles of Oklahoma. Gene enjoys writing history, especially Oklahoma and Western history.
