Lisa Marotta Book Signing at Best of Books
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lisa Marotta to our store! She will be signing copies of her book, Suki and Sam, on Saturday, Sept. 22 from noon to 1:30 pm.
Sam is a growing young artist who loves her dog, Suki. But when Suki dies, Sam’s grief washes all the color out of her world. Will Sam ever feel like painting again?
Suki and Sam is the culmination of Marotta's clinical experience in assisting children with grief. It was inspired by a series of paintings by Louisiana artist George Rodrigue. Dr. Marotta observed that children were often overwhelmed by their feelings of loss, whether it was the death of a pet, or a relative. She wrote the book she wanted to share with children to help them openly express sorrow and begin a conversation about loss within families. Suki was the name of her pet Portuguese Water Dog who also worked as a therapy dog in her office.
Dr. Lisa Marotta is a clinical psychologist and writer. She has a thriving private practice and writes healing stories for children and their families.
