We are so excited to welcome internet sensation Melissa Radke to Best of Books! She will be signing copies of her new book, EAT CAKE. BE BRAVE, on Tuesday, July 24th starting at 6:00 pm!

Once upon a time, Melissa believed a teacher who told her she would never amount to anything; a guy in high school who stood her up at the Senior Prom and made her feel unworthy of love; and a friend who said she was fat and an embarrassment. Then one day, Melissa looked at herself in the mirror, told herself to stop listening to people’s destructive words, and instead walk into a room like there’s a party being thrown in her honor.

In EAT CAKE. BE BRAVE., Melissa takes us on a life journey that should have killed her but made her funnier, written with her own special Southern blend of humor, faith, and candor. Sprinkled with attitude she got from her mom and street smarts she learned from Seinfeld, she explores tough issues of empowerment and self-worth, along with the trials of parenting, marriage, aging, and cheerleader tryouts. Melissa promises that if we all erase who we were and fight for who we want to become…she will do a cartwheel. And then she’ll write her second book from a hospital bed. EAT CAKE. BE BRAVE. is a story of unexpected self-discovery by an authentic writer who remembers now to celebrate life, perhaps even with a slice of cake (except for carrot).

Melissa Radke’s online videos have reached over 57 million people on her Facebook page alone in a little over a year. Radke’s “Upside Down French Braid” video has close to 10 million views and her “Red Ribbon” video has been viewed over 100 million times across multiple websites and media outlets. A Texan born and bred, Melissa spent 15 years of her life in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked as a studio session singer for Recording Artists after graduating from Belmont University. Since becoming a parent, she moved her family back to her East Texas hometown because the barbecue is better and the babysitting is free. Visit Melissa at
